GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Corporate Compliance department provides support to enable business growth while minimizing risk by evaluating new areas of opportunity as well as changes to existing business functions, ensuring compliance with regulations, industry standards, and internal corporate policies. The Corporate Compliance department’s focus areas include corporate records management, FERC and NERC compliance, Department of Transportation compliance, corporate governance, and other relevant regulatory compliance. The Compliance Generalist ensures adherence to legal standards, industry regulations, and internal policies by developing procedures, performing audits, and mitigating risks. The position monitors regulatory changes, assists with employee training, and reports findings to management, acting as a liaison between divisions/departments and regulatory bodies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Policy & Procedure Development: Helps create, implement, and maintain company policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws as directed by the Manager – Corporate Compliance  
  • Auditing and Risk Assessment: Assists with audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews to identify potential gaps, vulnerabilities, and opportunities for improvement.  
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Tracks key risk indicators (KRIs) and prepares compliance reports for regulatory agencies and Cooperative management.  
  • Training and Advisory: Assists with training employees across the Cooperative on compliance protocols.  
  • Regulatory Liaison: Serves as a contact for regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders, facilitating communication and helping review compliance-related issues.  
  • Continuous Improvement: Maintains visibility with industry developments, regulatory trends, and emerging risks and applies knowledge to continuously improve compliance programs.  
  • Performs any other related duties required or assigned by the Manager – Corporate Compliance  
  • Due to our obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to our customers, the ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and the ability to work outside your regularly scheduled office hours when necessary is an essential function of the job.  
  • Maintain awareness of and compliance with applicable laws and regulations from various regulatory entities, internal policies, procedures, and directives. Ensure ongoing monitoring and timely incorporation of any changes to maintain adherence to compliance standards.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Policy, Legal Studies or another related field. Experience in compliance, regulatory, risk management, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  

Compliance Generalist I - Minimum of one (1) year of experience 

Compliance Generalist II - Minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of experience

Compliance Generalist III - Minimum of four (4) to six (6) years of experience 

Senior Compliance Generalist - Minimum of seven (7)+ years of experience
