GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Utility Services division provides Construction and ROW services for many customers across a 5-state footprint, encompassing construction and maintenance of Transmission lines, Distribution Lines, Substations, and ROW Clearing. This internship offers a unique opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and essential industry. As an Operations Support Intern, you will play a crucial role in supporting various projects and initiatives that contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our operations. You will collaborate closely with experienced professionals and gain valuable insights into the operational processes that drive our success. This role is perfect for individuals eager to learn and grow within the utility sector while being part of a team committed to excellence. You will have the chance to analyze data, assist with project management, visit active project sites and contribute to process improvements. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support departmental project team consisting of Project Managers, Fleet Program Manager, and Analysts with daily tasks.  
  • Assist with project management functions such as schedule creation, budget tracking, material procurement, subcontractor coordination, invoice processing, etc.  
  • Assist bidding process with contractual document reviews including construction specifications, engineered drawings, and contractual requirements. Exposure to insight from industry professionals with vast experience in the Distribution, Transmission, Substation and Right-of-Way sectors.  
  • Maintain awareness of and compliance with applicable laws and regulations from various regulatory entities, internal policies, procedures, and directives. Ensure ongoing monitoring and timely incorporation of any changes to maintain adherence to compliance standards.  
  • Participate in construction pre-bid, bid, and pre-construction meetings, including periodic trips to the field for in-person project reviews with field crew personnel.  
  • Assist with data input to B2W and SAP software systems, including items such as project data, fleet/equipment data, tooling data, etc.  
  • Help maintain project documentation and reporting systems.  
  • Assist in monitoring and analyzing data to improve efficiency.  
  • Participate in invoice processing including accounts payable and accounts receivable.  
  • This position will be required to report to the Little Rock, AR campus.  
  • Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.  
  • Due to our obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to our customers, the ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and the ability to work outside your regularly scheduled office hours when necessary is an essential function of the job.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Pursuing a degree in Engineering (all disciplines considered), Consruction Management, Engineering Businesss, or related field. 
  • Technologically adept and advanced Microsoft Office Suite, particulary Excel and PowerPoint skills. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw insights. 
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and contribute. 
  • Good communication skills.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Prefer a Sophomore level or higher.
