GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Power Market Operator manages company’s generation portfolio in two Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs), in Real Time, in an economic manner while meeting applicable compliance standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage operation of AECC assets in two Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs) in a real time and short term horizon.
- Monitors demand in RTO markets in real time, and take action to enhance organizations economic performance.
- Determine fuel requirements for AECC scheduled generation in RTOs and communicate desire to AECC Fuels department.
- Develop AECC Day Ahead market positions using load and price forecasting tools.
- Submit electronic tags of physical schedules on Bulk Electric System and ensure accuracy of all schedules impacting AECC.
- Procure short term transmission over Open Access Same-time Information System to meet AECC requirements.
- Develop and submit seven-day load forecasts to meet NERC requirements.
- Follow directives and operating instructions from Reliability Coordinators, Transmission Operators, and Local Balancing Authorities; to maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
- Maintain high degree of situational awareness to enable response to rapidly changing system conditions.
- Monitor commercial customers and employ use of reliability and economic interruption when required.
- Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
- The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position.
- Due to our obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to our customers, the ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and the ability to work outside your regularly scheduled office hours when necessary is an essential function of the job.
- Maintain awareness of and compliance with applicable laws and regulations from various regulatory entities, internal policies, procedures, and directives. Ensure ongoing monitoring and timely incorporation of any changes to maintain adherence to compliance standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field, plus 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Operator I - Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field, plus 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. NERC Operator Certification is preferred.
- Operator II - Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field, plus 4 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. NERC System Operator Certification and custom energy accounting + tagging software used by the department required.
- Operator III - Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field, plus 6 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. NERC Operator Certification is required.
- SR Operator - Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field, plus at least 8 total years of related experience and/or training, including 5 years of project management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. NERC Certification is required.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Complex vendor and internally developed tools specific for Utility Operations.
