GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Performs highly skilled and complex mechanical repairs and maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and equipment. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Consults with and advises Supervisor, concerning the daily maintenance and repair of equipment.

Inspects and repairs equipment when necessary to ensure safe, legal, and proper operation.

Travels to various jobsites and makes necessary adjustments or repairs of equipment in the field.

Performs and maintains inventory of parts and supplies; ensures that adequate quantities of parts, supplies and materials are available.

Performs electrical troubleshooting, fabrication and welding including gas and diesel engine repairs.

Repairs and maintains hydraulics, heavy equipment and aerial devices.

Ensures fleet meets DOT requirements including vehicle inspections and air brakes including all documentation.

Ensures that the shop facilities and yard are kept in an orderly condition.

The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position.

Due to our obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to our customers, the ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and the ability to work outside your regularly scheduled office hours when necessary is an essential function of the job.

Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Maintain awareness of and compliance with applicable laws and regulations from various regulatory entities, internal policies, procedures, and directives. Ensure ongoing monitoring and timely incorporation of any changes to maintain adherence to compliance standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES CONT'D

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED plus specialized training, plus at least 6 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

A valid driver license is required. DOT Vehicle Inspector Certification (Must obtain within 120 days), DOT Air Brake repair and inspection certification (Must obtain within 120 days).

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is continuously exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; regularly exposed to work in high, precarious places; frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions, wet or humid conditions; and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell; frequently required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.  

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Knowledge on maintenance/repair of Buckets, Diggers, Cranes, Semis, and varies earth moving equipment.

Must be able to travel to various locations throughout Arkansas and surrounding states and stay overnight as required to complete work assignments.

During storm season, in and out of state storm recovery work is required.  Must be able to work in extreme temperatures and at excessive heights. Must have tools required to perform duties and be able to perform routine maintenance on crew vehicles. Must have or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid Training. This position is designated as safety‑sensitive based on the duties performed.

Employees in safety‑sensitive positions must comply with the Cooperative’s fitness‑for‑duty requirements and all applicable federal and state regulations governing workplace substance use and safety.


Employees are required to wear work boots with a hardened toe, differentiated heel, and leather uppers. Boots must comply with ASTM Standard for Protective Footwear – ASTM F2413. As a condition of employment, this position requires a valid driver’s license, post-offer fit for duty physical, pre-employment drug test, and must be able to pass DOT physical.
